Free AI resume builder
Make a resume free in your browser. This free online resume builder lets you type it in or upload the one you have, pick one of eight templates, and download it as a PDF or Word file. The AI helps you word each line, using only what is already on your resume.
No card needed. Sign in with Google or your email.
What the free resume maker does
- Edit every section. Contact details and links, summary, experience, projects, education, skills, languages, awards, certificates, publications and volunteer work. Move sections, hide them or rename their headings.
- See the page as you type. The preview beside the resume editor is the PDF you download. Every change saves on its own, with undo and redo.
- Change the design. Font (Helvetica, Times or Courier), size from 9 to 12 pt, line height, section spacing, margins, Letter or A4 paper, and six accent colours.
- Check the content. The Checks tab updates as you type: an email and a phone number, a 20–60 word summary, 3–6 bullets per job, a number in each bullet where one is true, dates on every job and school, and 400–800 words in all.
- Improve a line with AI. On a bullet or your summary, press Improve to see a stronger wording next to yours. Keep it with Accept or throw it away.
- Download PDF or DOCX. One click for each, whenever you like.
Eight resume templates
Every template is a single column with standard fonts and no icons, photos or skill bars, so an applicant tracking system reads your text in order. Switch at any time; your content stays put.
Two column layout, 11 percent. This one is the worst when it hits. The sidebar gets read in the middle of your work history… Fix: single column, always.
- Classic Centred Times name, capital headings over a thin black rule.
- Simple Left-aligned, bold headings over a thin grey rule. The recruiter default.
- Harvard Centred Times name and bold centred headings over a rule.
- Modern A short blue bar under your name and blue section headings.
- Highlight Your name and role in the accent colour, dark headings, light dividers.
- Executive Each heading in a narrow left column beside its content.
- Compact Small margins and a 9 pt body, to fit more on one page.
- Minimal Wide margins, no rules, a large light name and small grey headings.
An AI resume builder that doesn’t make things up
Some AI resume creators add work you never did. Ours only rewords. It is told to use the facts in your line or elsewhere on your resume, and never to add numbers, tools, employers, job titles or results. Nothing is saved until you accept the suggestion.

Questions
Is this AI resume builder free?
Yes. Sign in and you can create a resume for free, then edit, check and download it without paying. No card is needed.
The site claimed it was free, but I didn't realize free to make doesn't equal free to export.
A job seeker, on r/resumes Can I upload my old resume?
Yes. Upload a PDF, DOC or DOCX file on your profile. RoleInbox reads it into sections, then it opens in the builder for you to edit. You can also start from a blank page.
Are the templates ATS-friendly?
Every template is one column, uses standard fonts and has no icons, photos, tables or skill bars, so an applicant tracking system reads the text in order. Section headings are spaced so they come out as words, not single letters. You can test the result with our free ATS resume checker.
Does the AI make things up?
It is told not to. The AI may use only facts already in your line or elsewhere on your resume, and never add numbers, tools, employers, job titles or results. Its suggestion appears next to your words, and nothing changes until you press Accept. A model can still get things wrong, so read each suggestion before you keep it.
Should I download PDF or Word?
Use the PDF unless a form asks for Word. The PDF is exactly what you see in the preview. The DOCX is a plain Word file with your font, size, paper and sections, for forms that want Word or for editing in Word or Google Docs. The template’s rules and colours are in the PDF only.
How many pages should a resume be?
One page for most people early in their career, and two if you have many years of relevant experience. The Checks tab flags a resume outside 400–800 words. If yours runs just over a page, try the Compact template, or set narrow margins and a smaller font size in the Design tab.
If you don't have 8-10 years of experience, you get ONE page for your resume. Unless you are Alexander The Great, The Dali Lama, or The Second Coming, you don't get three pages.
A hiring manager of 30 years, on r/resumes Can I use it as a CV maker?
Yes. Switch the paper to A4 in the Design tab. The sections are the same: experience, education, skills, languages, publications, awards and more. You can rename any heading.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign in with Google or an email link, and a new address creates the account. Your resume is saved to it, so you can come back and edit it later.
